Minimising the Risk of Cyber Security Threats

Key measures to protect your data:

• Activate two layers of security
  • Use two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security to keep your personal information safe.

• Stop and check before sharing your personal information
  • Ask yourself, do I really need to give my information to this site or person?

• Be wary of unexpected emails, calls or messages that ask you to take action
  • Be aware of current scams. If an email, call or SMS seems unusual, check it through official contact points or report it as spam.

• Turn on automatic software updates
  • Set your software, operating system and apps to auto update to ensure you get the latest security features enabled.

• Train team members on cyber-security basics
  • Perform annual training on the latest scams, how to identify them and how to protect yourself from them.

While no set list of strategies is guaranteed to protect against all cyber threats, here at Perks we implement eight essential strategies as recommended by the Australian Cyber Security Centre to mitigate cyber security incidents.
